The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is the best wine I have tasted yet from Somnium. Ample and resonant in feel, the 2019 packs serious punch in both its fruit and tannin presence. Plum, leather, grilled herbs, tobacco, chocolate and savory herbs all open with a bit of air. This richly fruited vintage offers opulence, depth and smooth, broad-shouldered tannins. The nose opens with classic varietal aromas of purple flowers, blue fruit, dried herbs and dark roast espresso. On the palate, luxurious notes of ripe plum and blueberry compote meld with layers of leather, mocha and minerality in a round, full-bodied mouthful. 100% Cabernet Franc and only 55 cases produced.
